Philip Ludwell’s London Neighbor: Benjamin Franklin
Philip Ludwell III lived with his three daughters on Craven Street in London in the 1760s. Their close neighbor was Benjamin Franklin, whose house in this street is open to the public as a Benjamin Franklin’s London Home. It is only a short walk from here down the Strand to Exchange Court (photos here) where the Orthodox church met at the time of Ludwell’s reception in 1738. But in 1756 the church had relocated to Clifford St, about a twenty minute walk from the Ludwell home.
